Ukraine-EU summit kicks off in Kyiv

The 23rd Ukraine-European Union Summit begins in Kyiv on October 12. Within its framework, the parties are expected to sign a number of agreements.

That's according to the Presidential press service, Rubryka reports.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, President of the European Council Charles Michel, and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen will co-chair the event.

The leaders will discuss the achievements and prospects of cooperation between Ukraine and the EU in the implementation of the Association Agreement, the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area, energy security, and deepening sectoral cooperation.

Also on the agenda are issues of security and defense cooperation, as well as developments in Donbas and the occupied Crimea.

A number of agreements between Ukraine and the European Union are set to be signed within the Summit's framework.

A joint statement will be adopted following the event.

As reported earlier, an EU spokesperson said the main topics of the Ukraine-EU summit to be held on October 12 in Kyiv would include the implementation of the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement, the fight against COVID-19, and dialogue in the security sphere.
