Zelenskyy awards Hero of Ukraine title to Paralympian Maksym Krypak
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has awarded the Hero of Ukraine title to swimmer Maksym Krypak, who won seven medals at this year's Paralympic Games in Tokyo.
The head of state said this on Friday, September 17, at a meeting with representatives of the National Paralympic team of Ukraine, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
"Maksym Krypak was a shining star at the Games in Tokyo. Our Ukrainian swimmer won seven medals. This is a great result. He improved the record set 11 years ago and was recognized as the best athlete of the 16th Paralympic Games," Zelenskyy said.
Krypak won five gold medals, a silver and a bronze at the 2020 Paralympics in Tokyo.
At the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Krypak sealed five gold and three silver medals.
