SBU detains two former militants who fired on Ukrainian military positions

SBU counterintelligence officers detained two former members of illegal armed groups during a special operation in Odesa and Kharkiv regions. It's established that malefactors were involved in attacks of positions of anti-terrorist operation forces.

The press service of the State Security Service announced this, Rubryka reports.

According to the investigation, they were in the ranks of the militants during 2014-2016. During this period, the attackers took an active part in hostilities against the Ukrainian military in the areas of Donetsk, Debaltseve, Shyrokyne, and Dokuchaievsk.

Currently, security investigators have informed the detainees about the suspicion under Part 1 of Art. 258-3 (participation in a terrorist group or terrorist organization) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

"Investigative actions are underway to establish all the circumstances of the illegal activities of the suspects and bring to justice other persons involved in crimes against the state security of our country," the SBU said.

Measures to expose the perpetrators were carried out under the procedural guidance of the Odesa and Kharkiv regional prosecutor's offices.
