First woman in Moldovan presidency: who's Maia Sandu
Maia Sandu, a 48-year-old economist, has been elected Moldova's new president, defeating incumbent president Igor Dodon, who has ruled the country since 2016, in the second round. According to the November 15 voting results, Sandu was 15% ahead of Dodon. 57.75% of voters supported her, while 42.25% supported the current president.
