Today is July 12. russia's military attack on Ukraine has been going on for 139 days. We're reporting on the current news. The article will be updated.
What about today?
Key points
At night, the occupied Nova Kakhovka "glowed" after the Ukrainian army's HIMARS missiles struck the russian military base. According to preliminary information, at the time of the attack, there was a large fleet of vehicles, including at least 50 fuel tankers and about 200 rockets for the Smerch multiple-rocket launching system and many personnel at the base of the invaders in Nova Kakhovka. People's windows are flying out, but they are still happy because it means that the Ukrainian forces are near.
Another russian general is eliminated. It was done by a HIMARS missile hitting the russian headquarters in the Kherson region, said Serhii Bratchuk, the speaker of the Odesa regional military administration. In particular, we're talking about the Chief of Staff of the 22nd Army Corps of the russian federation (military unit 73954, Simferopol), Major General Nasbulin.
The South operational command reports the latest situation in the south of Ukraine: our attack aircraft carried out three airstrikes on ammunition warehouses in the Mykolaiv region, in the areas of Snihurivka and Liubymivka. With helicopters, the Ukrainian forces struck the enemy's stronghold in the Pravdyne area and enemy positions around Oleksandrivka. Enemy losses due to air strikes are being clarified.
According to the results of firing missions by our missile and artillery units, the enemy lost:
- 52 ruscists,
- one Msta-B howitzer,
- one mortar,
- one unit of armored and automotive equipment,
- warehouse with ammunition in Nova Kakhovka.
A total of ten HIMARS destroy ammunition depots and enemy command posts every day. Missiles that hit the target accurately aren't detected by russian air defense. If these machines were not there, then the advance of the russian troops in the direction of Bakhmut would be much more dangerous. The strikes in the Kherson region are preparing our offensive to liberate the south.
On the other hand, the russian troops in the southern direction are not talking about an offensive; they are only trying to hold their positions, the Institute for the Study of War states. The russians are preparing for city fights if the Defense Forces reach Kherson.
The main point from the morning summary of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine:
- In most other directions, the russian forces fired artillery and rocket systems and carried out airstrikes.
- In the Kharkiv direction, the Ukrainian military repressed an attempted assault in the Dementievka area.
- In the Sloviansk direction, the russians were pushed back after unsuccessful assaults in the areas of Mazanivka, Ivanivka, and Dolyna.

The Lithuanian government on Monday approved an aid package worth 10 million euros to help Ukraine with urgent reconstruction work. "This state aid is money for critical infrastructure, basic needs, and services. Ukrainians will win because they have the truth and the determination to defend and build on their side. They outweigh the destruction and brutality of the aggressor," Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė said.
The Lithuanians also bought anti-drones and Wingman radars for Ukraine. Anti-drones will help the Ukrainian military shoot down russian UAVs at a short distance. The Lithuanian journalist and TV presenter Andrius Tapinas, who organized the fundraising, announced this. He published a photo of the device, which he called the Orc Killer. "We bought 110 anti-drones for Ukraine and called them Orcrist or Orc Killer," he noted.
In Ukraine, training of the first professional operators for the Army of Drones has begun at the Dronarium school. In the first stage, they plan to train 150 service members. Soon they promise to open training centers in many cities in Ukraine. This was announced by the Minister of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov.

There are already eight foreign ships in Ukrainian ports that will deliver Ukrainian agricultural products to other countries. Restoring this work is, first of all, filling the Ukrainian budget.
