Ukrainian children win gold and silver at World Chess Championship

Ukrainian representatives claimed two medals at the Individual World Chess Championship for boys and girls (rapid and blitz), held on the Greek island of Rhodes.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports reported this.
In the age category under 8, the world blitz champion was Myron Netrebka from Dnipro. He scored 9.5 points out of 11 possible, ahead of his closest rivals by 1.5 points.
Daria Kravchuk from Bucha earned the silver medal in the rapid category for girls under 10, finishing the tournament with 9 points out of 11 and securing second place among 29 participants.

In total, Ukraine was represented at the championship by four young chess players.
845 participants from 48 countries competed for the awards of the individual world championship among boys and girls (rapid and blitz) in Rhodes, Greece.

Ukrainian athlete Taisiia Onofriichuk became the champion of the World Cup stage in rhythmic gymnastics in hoop exercises. The 16-year-old Ukrainian also won three more medals in the competition.
Earlier, Taisiia clinched victory at the World Cup stage in Sofia, Bulgaria, marking her fourth consecutive all-around win. She secured her previous victories at Grand Prix stages in Tartu, Estonia; Marbella, Spain; and Thiers, France.
It should be noted that Daria Ponomarenko from Cherkasy achieved a place in the Guinness Book of Records by performing 24 consecutive upside-down splits on a sports pole without stopping.
Five-year-old gymnast Rehina Abramova achieved a Ukrainian record for maintaining the "vertical straight inverted" position for the longest duration. This technically challenging exercise demands exceptional physical fitness and endurance.
It is worth mentioning that two-year-old Ania Yakymchuk from the Odesa region set a Ukrainian swimming record in the category "The youngest child who has overcome a distance of 50 meters in freestyle".
It was also reported that 2-year-old Aurora Homonai from Vynohradiv became the record holder and entered the Book of Records of Ukraine for swimming underwater in flippers. The girl swam 20.25 meters in 28 seconds.
