Russian invaders destroyed the building of the Arkhip Kuindzhi Art Museum in Mariupol
Rubryka reports, referring to the Mariupol City Council in Telegram.
The museum kept original paintings by world-famous masters.
"In total, the Museum Fund had about 2,000 exhibits, including works of art, decorative and applied arts, graphics and sculpture," the statement said.
"The museum kept original works by Ukrainian artists:
- Ivan Aivazovskyi,
- Mykola Hlushchenko,
- Tatiana Yablonska,
- Mykhailo Derehus and others.
Their fate is unknown at this time," the statement said.
According to the Head of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, Kostiantyn Cherniavsky, there were no originals of Kuindzhi's works at the time of the shelling, only copies by Andrii Yalanskyi and Oleksandr Olkhov.
