In Russia, air defense systems were activated in the region of Lipetsk in response to drone attacks. This resulted in a fire at a substation in the area. The anti-aircraft system was also engaged in Belgorod and the surrounding district, shooting down several aerial targets before they reached the city.

The governor of the Lipetsk region, Ihor Artamonov, reports that on Telegram.

A Russian official stated that the UAVs were "neutralized" by air defense systems near the Stanovlyan district.

"Employees of the special services are working on the spot. There are no victims. The outbreak on the territory of the electrical substation is being extinguished," he said.

The governor later announced the withdrawal of the red-level "Threat of UAV attack" for the Stanovlyansky district. Subsequently, he declared that the "Air Danger" had been repelled throughout the entire region.

Drone attacks at night in other Russian regions

It should be noted that on the night of May 13 in Russia, drone attacks were announced not only in the Lipetsk region but also in:

  • Kursk,
  • Belgorod.

At first, the air defense forces also did combat work. According to local authorities, as reported by the propaganda media, eight drones were allegedly shot down in the Kursk region.

There is no indication of the consequences of the drone raid in the region.

Additionally, it should be noted that the authorities in the Belgorod region have announced the downing of multiple airborne targets near the city, with reports of drone attacks as well. According to Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov, this has resulted in infrastructure damage and casualties.

According to him, in the Belgorod region, the anti-aircraft defenses repelled an air attack in the village of Cheremoshnoye. However, a residential building, bathhouse, and garage were destroyed due to a direct hit by a projectile.

Three civilians who were at home at the time suffered minor scratches and bruises and refused to call an ambulance.

"In general, various damages were recorded in five private residential houses in the village: windows were broken, facades, roofs, and fences were cut. Three cars were also damaged. Dry grass caught fire in the village of Ustinka; the source of the fire was promptly eliminated," Gladkov said.

Local media released a video of the explosions in the Belgorod region, which was recorded by eyewitnesses.

For reference:

On the morning of May 12, in Belgorod, Russia, a high-rise building had one of its entrances collapse. Vyacheslav Gladkov, the governor of the Belgorod region, blamed the Ukrainian Defense Forces for shelling. The impact seemed to hit the second floor, causing the entire entrance to collapse.

The roof of the destroyed building fell on rescuers who were clearing the rubble.

The mass media emphasized that people were evacuated from nearby entrances.

The Ministry of Defense of Russia claims that the collapse occurred due to the operation of their air defenses. Allegedly, the house was hit by a fragment of one of the Ukrainian "Tochka-U" missiles, which they shot down earlier.

At the same time, Lieutenant Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, suggested that the collapse of the entrance could have been caused by a deliberate detonation or a domestic explosion. According to him, no falling objects are visible on the video of the moment of the explosion distributed on the network.

The destruction of the house in Belgorod occurred at a time when the Russian occupation forces were trying to break through the Ukrainian defenses in the Kharkiv Region and were heavily shelling Ukrainian settlements.

The city of Belgorod in Russia reported its fifth shelling on May 12, which occurred in the evening. The report stated that additional damage and disruptions to the city's power supply had occurred.
