Drones hit Tatarstan for the first time since the war began. According to Russia, Ukrainian drones launched an attack on businesses in the Republic of Tatarstan on the morning of April 2. These enterprises are situated over 1,200 kilometers away from the Ukrainian border.

Local authorities and Telegram channels report this.

The president of the republic, Rustam Minikhaniv, said that an attack by unmanned aerial vehicles was carried out on enterprises of Tatarstan in the cities of Yelabuga and Nizhnekamsk. According to him, there is no severe damage, and the technological process of the enterprises is allegedly not disturbed.

Minikhaniv claims that there are victims due to the destruction of the premises. All services are "on high alert".

Russian propaganda Telegram channel SHOT writes that the explosions were heard in the special economic zone "Alabuga," where industrial and production enterprises are located, which is located under the city.

According to residents, the explosions occurred at six in the morning.

Attention, strong language.

In the "Alabuga" special economic zone itself, they claim that the hostel was supposedly attacked.

According to the US, "Alabuga" contracts with the Russian military to assemble Shahed drones.

The US Treasury has predicted that this special economic zone aims to ramp up production and manufacture thousands of drones by 2025.

"Alabuga" belongs to the government of the Republic of Tatarstan.

It should be noted that the distance from the Ukrainian border to Yelabuga is 1,593 km by road and 1,237 km via the direct route.

Moreover, the Elaz-Naftoprodukt oil refinery is located in this economic zone.

Earlier, a representative of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Vadym Skibitskyi, said that in the city of Yelabuga, the Russians deployed at least two production lines of Shahed kamikaze drones.

For reference:

On Monday, April 1, the Russian city of Belgorod came under fire. Private houses and cars were ablaze in the city.

Also, earlier, Russia accused Ukraine of an alleged attack on Belgorod and the region on the night of March 29. Russian anti-aircraft defense was operating in the region – about 15 Vampire projectiles were destroyed.

Furthermore, it is reported that on March 9, nearly 50 Ukrainian drones were supposedly taken down in Russia, with most of them headed towards the Rostov region. Notably, Kursk was also experiencing some turbulence.

In total, in 2024, there have already been 15 drone attacks on 13 oil refineries in 9 regions of the Russian Federation. Of them, eight objects suffered significant damage.

In her turn, Deputy Prime Minister Olha Stefanishyna reacted to the article about the alleged calls of the US to Ukraine to stop attacks on Russian refineries. She stated that oil refineries on the territory of Russia are legal targets from a military point of view.
