The Polish government wants to intensify inspections of goods exported from Ukraine and has announced tighter border controls, agrarian ministry reports on Twitter.

The head of the ministry Czeslaw Sekerski conducted inspections at the Medyka border crossing point. Earlier, he visited the Korczowa checkpoint on the border with Ukraine.

This was followed by a statement from Sekersky that it was necessary to strengthen control and increase the intensity of inspections.

"Excessive imports of agricultural products from Ukraine that do not meet EU production requirements threaten the competitiveness of Polish agriculture."

Polish Deputy Minister of Agriculture Michal Kolodziejczak has been inspecting border crossing points for two days in a row. Today he visited the Yahodyn-Dorogusk checkpoint, and yesterday he visited Hrubieszów.

The Polish official noted that he is overseeing inspections of agricultural goods imported from Ukraine.

Kolodziejczak also posted photos of low-quality frozen raspberries that were turned around at the border.

Polish farmers have announced a new strike, during which they will block roads in some of the country's voivodeships and block border crossings with Ukraine. The protest will begin on February 9 and will last for a month.
