Ukrainian drones attack oil plant in Russia's Krasnodar region
During the night of January 25, drones of the Ukrainian Security Service attacked an oil refinery in the Russian city of Tuapse, Krasnodar Krai, according to a source of Hromadske within law enforcement.
The media source said a massive fire broke out at the plant after two powerful explosions, Rubryka reports.
The primary oil processing facility was damaged. This includes the vacuum and atmospheric columns.
"The Security Service of Ukraine strikes deep into Russia and continues attacks on facilities that not only have significant importance for the Russian economy but also supply fuel to enemy forces. There will be many surprises ahead, and systemic work is ongoing," the source stated.
Local Telegram channels also report the explosions.
"Officially, the authorities have not named the cause of the fire at the oil refinery. ASTRA found out that at midnight on January 25, the territory of the 'RN-Sea Terminal Tuapse' was attacked by a drone. After that, a fire broke out. The oil refining installation, which contained about 100 tons of gasoline and 200 tons of fuel oil at the time of the attack, was damaged," the statement said, adding that 38 employees were evacuated from the enterprise's territory.
The Telegram channel Baza reports that the height of the flames at the Rosneft oil refinery after the attack reached 70 meters.
The Telegram channel Shot also writes about a fire in the village of Yelovo near Krasnoyarsk in eastern Siberia in a workshop producing aircraft.
"The fire engulfed over 1,700 square meters. 40 people fled the building, escaping the fire," the message says.
The burning production belongs to the company "Alligator," which produces flat-bottomed watercraft with inflatable and rigid hulls and aviation engines. 27 rescuers and eight units of special equipment are fighting the fire.
Similar attacks on Russian oil bases
Explosions regularly occur on Russian territory, and some of them are associated with drone attacks. For example, the attack by Ukrainian drones on January 21 halted the operation of the Novatek plant, located on the coast of the Baltic Sea.
On the night of January 18, Ukrainian drones struck an oil base in the Leningrad Oblast, Russia: this attack was a special operation of the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense.
As Rubryka reported, the so-called "governor of Sevastopol," Mikhail Razvozhaev, reported on the night of April 29 that a fuel tank was burning in Kozacha Bay. The fire covered an area of 1,000 square meters, and the fires were assigned to the 4th class.
On May 3, Taman, Russia, was rocked by an explosion in the city port, after which a fire broke out in a fuel tank.
Moreover, on December 22, the Russians reported a new "attack" on the oil storage facility in the Bryansk Oblast. Russian media claimed that drones attempted to attack fuel tanks.
Also, on December 5, Russians claimed to have intercepted and destroyed over 40 allegedly Ukrainian drones over the territory of the Russian Federation. Ukrainian drones struck the "Marine Oil Terminal" in the occupied Feodosia.
On January 9, in the city of Oryol, Russia, drones attacked an oil base and power plant. Explosions were also heard in the Kursk Oblast.
Already on January 4, explosions rocked occupied Sevastopol and Yevpatoria: eyewitnesses claim "flyovers," while the Russian Ministry of Defense claims the downing of ten missiles.
One of the largest drone attacks on Russia took place on the night of August 30.
