Sweden plans to contribute about $5 million to NATO's trust fund, which will be directed toward military assistance for Ukraine, according to the announcement of the Swedish Embassy in Ukraine.

"The Swedish government will provide 50 million SEK to the NATO assistance fund for Ukraine. This assistance will be used for procurement of military equipment, medicines, fuel, demining, and personnel training," the diplomatic representative said, Rubryka reports.

Як повідомлялося, Японія теж вирішила внести 37 млн доларів США до трастового фонду НАТО на системи виявлення безпілотних літальних апаратів в Україні.

As Rubryka previously reported, Japan has also decided to contribute $37 million to NATO's trust fund for unmanned aerial vehicle detection systems in Ukraine.

Details on Ukraine's collaboration with Sweden

On December 5, Ukrainian Minister of Defense Rustem Umierov met with the Supreme Commander of the Swedish Armed Forces, General Micael Bydén, to discuss the localization of defense production in Ukraine. They also talked about the possibility of supplying Gripen fighter jets to the Armed Forces.

Bydén mentioned that the transfer of Gripen jets to Ukraine is being discussed at both political and military operational levels.

Sweden is part of the aviation coalition aimed at providing fighter jets to Ukraine. In late May, the Swedish government allowed Ukrainian pilots to undergo training on the JAS 39 Gripen fighter jets. They would have the opportunity to practice on simulators and perform test flights.

The Swedish government also announced a contribution of 75 million Swedish kronor (€6.52 million) to the UNESCO fund for the restoration and reconstruction of destroyed and damaged schools and kindergartens in Ukraine. This includes the shelters in these institutions.

Sweden is set to support Ukraine with artillery ammunition while simultaneously increasing its own reserves.
