Ukraine successfully repatriates teenager deported by Russia from Mariupol

Ukraine managed to bring home a teenager whom the Russians deported from Mariupol to a settlement near Moscow last year.

Rubryka reports this, referring to the Ministry of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine.

"We have another opportunity to say that the number of citizens returned from Russian deportation is increasing. This story began in April 2022. 17-year-old Oleksandr, as part of a group of 31 children, was taken from the temporarily occupied Mariupol to the settlement near Moscow," the message reads.

The Ministry noted that the vast majority of children from that group were orphans or deprived of parental care.

On the eve of the New Year, a public figure involved in the return of children contacted the Crisis Response Department of the Ministry of Reintegration.

"And here is a new small victory. Oleksandr is now in Kyiv. He is the fifth of this group who was returned. He came of age in almost two years abroad, but all this time, he really wanted to return," added the Ministry of Reintegration.

The Ministry of Reintegration expresses gratitude to Daria Kasianova, the head of the Ukrainian Network for Children's Rights board, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
