Finland seizes valuable real estate from sanctioned Russian businessman
Finnish law enforcement agencies seized the real estate of Russian businessman Boris Alyoshyn, who is on the EU sanctions list and is connected to the Russian defense industry.

It is noted that the arrest was imposed at the request of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland in September. According to the bailiff's decision, two neighboring plots of real estate with a total value of more than 2.5 million euros near the city of Longvik were confiscated from Alyoshyn.
The main property is the Skogshydda plot of about 1.6 hectares, located on the seashore. According to the land registry, in 2018, the oligarch paid 2.3 million euros for it.
Two years later, the Ministry of Defense permitted Alyoshin to buy an adjacent plot for 250,000 euros.
Last June, the Council of the EU added the 68-year-old businessman and scientist Alyoshyn to the sanctions list because of Russia's war against Ukraine.
Alyoshin, who lives in Moscow, among other things, works for several companies related to the Russian military industry.
In particular, he is a scientific and technical advisor to the general director of the Russian state aviation company United Aircraft Corporation. The group's subsidiaries produce MiG and "Sukhoi" fighter jets used by the Russian military.
Alyoshyn also serves as the chairman of the board of the Kronstadt group of companies, which produces, among other things, the Orion drones, also used by the Russian military.
In 2003-2004, Alyoshyn also held the post of Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Policy in the government of Mikhail Kasyanov.
In the summer of 2020, Alyoshyn sent the Finnish Ministry of Defense an application for permission to purchase the plot. It says that the businessman spent his vacations in these places, where he mainly liked to fish.
According to the bailiff's decision, real estate belonging to Alyoshin cannot be mortgaged or alienated without the bailiff's permission. In addition, the Foreclosure Office forbade the transfer of mortgage documents on the land owned by it to other bodies, except for the foreclosure authorities.
