A new private medical clinic, "Stolytsia," was opened in the Kyiv region on the grounds of the State Tax University, replacing the former Irpin medical center, once used for tax police cadets.

ITV reports this.

What is the problem?

Today, in the struggle for its freedom, Ukraine pays with the lives and health of its soldiers and civilians. There are more and more Ukrainians with prostheses, as many citizens are seriously injured due to the war in Ukraine.

In the streets of relatively calm cities, one can observe a significant rise in the number of individuals with prosthetics or disfigured body parts compared to previous years.

Moreover, the demand for prosthetic limbs has skyrocketed since the extensive invasion by Russia in February 2022.

What is the solution?

The private clinic "Stolytsia," which recently opened in Irpin, provides free services for the installation of prostheses on the limbs of military and civilian victims of Russian aggression.

"The Irpin City Council and the "Stolytsia" medical clinic signed a memorandum on receiving free medical care for children who lost their parents in the war.

This is their social responsibility. And we always welcome those businesses that are socially active for our community. Because these families are the families of heroes, and this is also a priority for us," the head of the city said about cooperation.

According to Markushyn, Irpin is the first city to be rebuilt in Ukraine. The opening of another medical clinic is a confirmation of this.

How does it work?

The institution will provide free medical services to the children of the fallen defenders from Irpin and provide prosthetics to soldiers and athletes.

"The main focus is the social and volunteer project, which we are implementing in cooperation with the public organization "Ukrainian Medical Mission." We are starting a training center here for physiotherapists who can install soft prostheses for people who have lost limbs free of charge.

This project began in 2023 thanks to the donor support of the British charity "The Eneida Foundation" and is implemented jointly with the NGO "UMM," Byshenko noted.

35 Ukrainian defenders are already taking advantage of this innovative technology.

Further, together with its partners, "Stolytsia" plans to develop this direction. Rehabilitation will also be free for military personnel.

"Rehabilitation of the military consists of two parts. Neuropsychological rehabilitation, psychological assistance to our military. Also, physical rehabilitation.

We offer therapeutic massages for recovery after injuries, including mine-explosion injuries. We also provide services before and after prosthetics, specifically preparing the stump for the prosthetic fitting. That is, we do everything we can to help," explained Diana Hromova, sports doctor and rehabilitation specialist.

"Stolytsia" will also help young Irpin residents whose parents died defending Ukraine.

"Our children, whose father died in the war, will be able to receive medical care here for free," Markushyn emphasized.

In addition, students and teachers of the university also received benefits for medical care at the medical clinic.

"The example of this collaboration is perhaps unique in Ukraine, as the cooperation between the university and the clinic is beneficial not only for both sides but also for the entire city," said the acting director—the rector of the State Tax University, Dmytro Serebryanskyi.

According to him, the university will be able to open new specialties to train specialists who will have the opportunity to undergo internships and practice on the basis of the clinic.

For reference:

It is worth mentioning that in Dnipro, Ukraine, defenders who wear prostheses participate in Nordic walking with the guidance of prosthetists and instructors. Following each brisk walk, they are required to play football, allowing them to become accustomed to moving effortlessly with their prostheses.

Rubryka's correspondent attended one Nordic walking training session. Read more about men of steel, who in a few days on prostheses, master bicycles, scooters, and monoblocks in our article: "Men of steel: how fighters get accustomed to prosthetics through Nordic walking and football."
