Russian forces shell three villages in eastern Donetsk region

From Sunday morning, the Russian army shelled three villages in Ukraine's eastern Donetsk region.

Criminal proceedings have been opened for violations of the laws and customs of war, Rubryka reports, citing the statement of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office.

The Russian forces shelled the village of Kalynivka near Bakhmut, killing one civilian. A 58-year-old local died from sustained injuries in his home.

The Russians shelled the neighboring village of Vasiukivka with a mortar, killing a 61-year-old man with a direct hit of a projectile into a passenger car.

A 19-year-old man was injured by shelling in the Netailove near Pokrovk. In the city of Toretsk, a 59-year-old woman and a 60-year-old man received contusions due to Russian shelling.

The explosions also damaged private homes, multi-apartment residential buildings, commercial buildings, and cars.

Last night, the Russian air force also attacked Avdiivka in the Donetsk region with missiles, killing three civilians. 

The Russian forces continued to brutally shell Avdiivka, completely destroying the city, and killing and injuring the remaining residents. The Ukrainian Forces selflessly continued to defend the city and repel numerous enemy attacks.

Situation in Donetsk region

The Russian forces directly shell the cities and villages of the Donetsk region. Front-line towns, and even those located in the closer rear, are constantly under attack.

Recently, the Russians struck Kostiantynivka, Donetsk region, with an Iskander missile. A child was among the wounded.

Before that, the Russians shelled several towns in the Donetsk region with artillery, killing a  man.
