During the flash mob in the German city of Karlsruhe, a sister city of Vinnytsia, an embroidered mural will be created on the wall of the library of the Ukrainian Cultural Center.

The Vinnytsia City Council reports this.

"The German-Ukrainian society Ukrainians in Karlsruhe is organizing a flash mob in the Karlsruhe Ukrainian Cultural Center to celebrate Vyshyvanka Day 2024. As part of the event, a Vyshyvanka mural will be created on the wall of the library of the Ukrainian Cultural Center, which will become a symbol of unity and cultural diversity," the message says.

As noted, for a symbolic contribution, each flash mob participant can paint one square of the mural in red or black to create a sizeable ornamental picture together.

This project will not only unite Ukrainians and friends of Ukraine in Karlsruhe, Germany. Still, it will also strengthen the connection with the Motherland, thanks to the support of the community of Karlsruhe's sister city, Vinnytsia.

All the funds collected during the flash mob will be directed to the humanitarian projects of the "Ukrainians in Karlsruhe" society, which aims to support Ukrainian compatriots.

The mural's description will indicate the names or nicknames of all those who will join the initiative and wish to be inscribed in the history of cooperation between the communities of Vinnytsia and Karlsruhe.

It is noted that this event is part of the mission of preserving and popularizing Ukrainian culture and heritage among the Ukrainian diaspora, deepening intercultural ties between Ukraine and Germany.

For reference:

During an extraordinary session in Vinnytsia on May 10, 2023, the city council officially approved the twinning agreement between Vinnytsia and Nancy and the tripartite agreement involving Karlsruhe, Nancy, and Vinnytsia.

The mayors of three cities, Vinnytsia in Ukraine, Nancy in France, and Karlsruhe in Germany, signed a cooperation agreement, officially making their cities sister cities. The signing ceremony was held at Nancy City Hall, attended by members of parliament, government officials, and many guests from the three countries.

As reported, Vyshyvanka Day is traditionally celebrated on the third Thursday of May in Ukraine.
