The installation, capable of demining 120 hectares of territory in two weeks, was developed by the Demining of Ukraine company.

The company's representative Yan Artyukhov told about this during the working trip of the First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Economy Yulia Svyridenko to the Zhytomyr region, Ukrinform reports.

What is the problem?

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia, the area of Ukrainian lands contaminated by mines and explosive objects has increased to 174,000 square kilometers, where more than 5 million Ukrainians live.

According to the State Emergency Service, the Kyiv, Sumy, Chernihiv, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, Kherson, and Donbas regions are the most mined. It will take at least ten years to clear these areas.

Today, Ukraine has 20 demining machines, three of which are in the Kharkiv region, and about 3,000 demining specialists. These powers are not enough to speed up clearing the country's territory from mines and explosives.

What is the solution?

The company, Demining of Ukraine, has developed a device capable of demining 120 hectares of territory within two weeks.

How does it work?

The company created a device that demined 120 hectares of densely mined land in 14 days. "We did preliminary reconnaissance with the Mavic Enterprise and Mavic 3T drones. The device is very simple — the tractor moves through the demined territory, and the device moves along the mined one. The first part of it pulls out anti-tank mines, the other — crushes what concerns anti-personnel mines and OZM-72 (anti-personnel blocking mine – ed.)," Artyukhov noted.

According to him, five people work in the team, and it is possible to demine ten hectares of territory in a day. Agricultural land is cleaned of explosive objects as much as possible.

The device is inexpensive and can demine the Mykolaiv region during the summer.

As the head of Demining of Ukraine, Kateryna Drozd, added, the second area of the company's work is the analysis of minefields using drones. Accordingly, the artificial intelligence that works in the drone reads all the information about minefields and explosive objects, making it possible to form maps of minefields.

We will remind that the company that manufactures the machine for preparing the soil for demining has already received a certificate of conformity, which allows it to set up its production and use it for demining territories.

In addition, Western-style robotic systems for demining will be manufactured in Ukraine.
