Explosions ring out in Russian-occupied Crimea as 20 drones attack Feodosia and Novoozerne
On the night of August 12, explosions rang out in the temporarily occupied Crimean Feodosia and Novoozerne. Later, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced the attack by 20 drones.
The propaganda agency TASS writes about this with reference to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and Krymsky Veter media.
As local media reported, the explosions near Fedosia were quite strong. The network says that "several rockets flew" in the Chaudu area.
"What kind of explosions were in the city?… 3 explosions were the loudest… I saw that something exploded near the oil depot and somewhere else nearby," the Telegram channel "ChP Feodosia" also reported.
In turn, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation announced that an alleged attack by 20 UAVs was repulsed.
"On the night of August 12, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation repelled attacks by 20 Ukrainian UAVs on Crimea; there were no casualties or damage," the department emphasized.
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation noted that allegedly:
- 14 Ukrainian UAVs were destroyed by air defense,
- another six drones were reportedly suppressed by means of electronic warfare.
Also, the Telegram channel "Krymsky Veter" reports that traffic on the Crimean Bridge has been blocked due to the explosions.
Representatives of the occupation "administration" and local "officials" have not yet commented on the explosions and the situation in the crossing area.
The network also reports on explosions, flashes, the sounds of gunfire, and the work of air defense in Novoozerne, located not far from Yevpatoria in the west of the occupied peninsula. People talk about drones seen in the sky above the settlement.
The network notes that a sizeable military storage base for the occupiers is in Novoozerne, namely the 943rd mobilization deployment support center.
Then, around 4:10 a.m., representatives of the occupation "administration" commented on the explosions in Crimea that night. As the so-called advisor to the head of Crimea, Oleh Kriuchkov, reported, air defense systems were activated in different parts of the peninsula.
"We ask you to remain calm and trust only verified sources of information," he wrote on Telegram.
It should be noted that on the night of August 12, Russian propagandists announced the closure and resumption of traffic on the Crimean Bridge.
The so-called authorities of the occupied Crimea announced the work of air defense "over various areas."
For reference:
Recently, there has been a significant increase in explosions in Crimea, which is temporarily under the control of the Russian occupiers. They usually take place at the invaders' military facilities, ammunition depots, logistics facilities, etc.
It should be noted that on the morning of July 24, explosions rang out at the military airfield and ammunition depot in the village of Vesele. The Russian Federation announced an alleged "drone attack."
The occupying authorities of Crimea also announced the evacuation of the population within a radius of 5 km from the site of the explosions in the Dzhankoy district. Partisans reported that a batch of Onyx missiles could have been destroyed in Crimea.
Also, late in the evening of July 28, an ammunition depot of the occupiers exploded in Cossack Bay of the Crimean Sevastopol.
In addition, Russia announced that on the night of July 30, Crimea was attacked by 25 drones.
Moreover, on July 31, a series of loud explosions were also reported in the temporarily captured Simferopol in Crimea.
In addition, there is a military airfield in Dzhankoy in the north of Crimea, which the occupiers actively use. The General Staff of the Armed Forces reported that the Russians had turned Dzhankoy into their military base.
It is also worth noting that explosions were repeatedly heard in the Dzhankoy area. So, in particular, in March, Ukraine's armed forces destroyed Russian Kalibr cruise missiles in Dzhankoy, which the occupiers were transporting by rail.
