Russia's raging response to the counteroffensive includes increased shelling and the use of aircraft.

Despite that, Ukrainian forces destroyed over 300 units of enemy equipment, which stopped Russia from dynamic advancing, says deputy defense minister Hanna Maliar.

Over the past week, more than 300 units of enemy equipment were destroyed in the east and south, including ammunition depots, control points, and clusters of military equipment. Our military is destroying the enemy very powerfully, said Maliar.

Where the enemy is trying to advance, Ukrainian troops repel attacks in 4 directions in the east, such as Lyman, Kupiansk, Avdiivka, and Marinka, Maliar added.

What does it mean? This means that our troops are in such a powerful defense that even the increase in shelling and the use of aviation, do not give any profits to the enemy, the deputy minister said.

Maliar called on Ukrainians to stay patient and not rush the operations on social media, as the war of "strong opponents can't last short."

All these weeks [of the counteroffensive – ed.] were not just a duel, but an act of attrition. Knowing that our forces are destroying the enemy's offensive and defensive potential, it was harder for Russians to attack and resist. The second important aspect of the fight is that the enemy has to be exhausted, which is our strategical point, Maliar concluded.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian troops have already breached the first Russian defense line on the southeastern front, says the spokesperson of the Tavria forces Serhii Kuzmin.

The Ukrainian military has been conducting a long-expected counteroffensive for about two months. During this time, troops liberated several settlements in the Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions, with some of these territories being occupied in 2014.
