Solutions to win: Ukrainian community in Latvia starts producing flags to mark areas of demining

The Latvian-Ukrainian Friendship Society has launched the Victory Flags project as part of the demining program for the liberated Ukrainian territories, says the head of the community Valerii Oleniychuk.

What is the problem?

During demining, flags are vital to mark areas of the operation so that civilians won't get injured and the sappers confused.

What is the solution?

The Interregional Rapid Response Centre of Ukrainian rescuers asked us to produce 500 red flags for use in the Kharkiv demining campaign, said Oleniychuk.

How does it work?

The task is already done, as the flags have been delivered to the site with the logistical assistance of the Latvian volunteer organization Agendum. Valerii said. Similar orders will be fulfilled for the demining of Kharkiv and Luhansk regions.

I would also like to thank Janis Kraulis, Head of the Eastern European Division of the German company KNAUF, for his help. By the way, there used to be a KNAUF plant in the Luhansk region, but it was destroyed during the Russian aggression. I would also like to thank engineer Vasyl Vodnev for developing the project technology," said the chairman of the Latvian-Ukrainian Friendship Society.

The community now needs help in purchasing red plastic. Previously, the Latvian-Ukrainian Friendship Society has already been involved in several projects to help Ukrainian forces. During the winter campaign, they created 70,000 trench candles.
