Zelensky to present more NATO-backed arms for Ukraine

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has announced new defense capabilities for Ukraine from NATO allies.

The relevant statement was posted on his Telegram in the evening address.

Tomorrow we will continue our work in Vilnius. Our defense is the first priority. I am grateful to our partners for their willingness to take new steps. More weapons for our soldiers means more protection of life for the whole of Ukraine. We will bring new important defense capabilities to Ukraine.

Zelensky also noted that bilateral meetings with American, Canadian, German, British, Dutch, Japanese, and other partners are planned during the next day of the summit. The first inaugural meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council is also scheduled.

The NATO summit takes place on July 11-12 in the Lithuanian capital. Ukraine's President also arrived in Vilnius on Tuesday with a public address to Lithuanians and the Ukrainian flag from Bakhmut.

On July 11, NATO members recognized Ukraine's progress on the path to Euro-Atlantic integration and reaffirmed that Ukraine's future lies in NATO, praising the resilience of Ukrainian troops and offering long-term military assistance.

NATO allies  also agreed to lift the requirement for a Membership Action Plan for Ukraine and stated that they would extend an invitation to Ukraine to join the Alliance once "conditions are met."
