Ukrainian sappers destroyed 62 Russian landmines during Kakhovka dam rescue operation

Since the start of the rescue operation in Kherson, Ukrainian sappers have already discovered and eliminated 62 mines.

The Kherson region remains one of the most mind areas in Ukraine, according to the state's Ministry of internal affairs.

"There is a very high danger of finding mines. So far, we have found 62 mines and eliminated them, removed them from Kherson. We must first take a full range of mine action measures so that public utilities can work, the minister Ihor Klymenko said.

Klymenko reported that some buildings remain flooded, including 593 buildings in the Kherson region. Currently, local authorities are pumping water out of houses.

Water, electricity, payments and security are the most important things today. Of course, we all want people to come back. They are starting to return to their homes, we are accepting their applications. Relevant commissions are working to examine lost and damaged property based on these applications, he said.

Klymenko said that there is still a lot of work to be done and suggested that they would need to complete the operation in a month or two.

The minister noted that work is currently ongoing on trade and markets in the Dnipropetrovsk and Kherson regions. Klymenko urged civilians not to sell or buy fish at markets due to the extreme water contamination.

We monitor the epidemiological and sanitary situation very closely. Both epidemiologists and doctors, who also came from Kyiv, are working here to find any possible outbreaks of any epidemic. We are currently in control of the situation, and I hope that it will stay so, but there must be a sufficiently high level of self-discipline, he said.
