Ukraine purchased equipment for collecting, digitizing, and storing military personnel's DNA samples.

The press service of Ukraine's Ministry for Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories reports the latest department meeting discussed the preliminary collection of genetic material from military personnel serving in the armed forces and law enforcement.

"During the war, this is very important. The genetic material of all defenders must be stored in a single database…" the statement reads.

The reintegration ministry noted that the Ukrainian legislation provides for the mandatory collection of biological material from military personnel and volunteer fighters of territorial communities.

The department developed the procedure for collecting samples of human genomic information. It will be agreed with the central executive authorities.

A person's DNA will be digitized and stored in the military personnel's personal file. The appropriate equipment has already been purchased.
