Solutions to win: Junior Academy of Sciences inspires teenagers to help rebuild Ukraine

The Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine has developed a career guidance campaign, "#CVIDOMI: rebuilding the country," to inspire teenagers to choose relevant professions to reconstruct Ukraine.

Rubryka writes about this.

What is the problem?

Choosing a career path can be a daunting task. It's essential to explore and understand the options available and realistically evaluate personal interests, abilities, and opportunities. Making the wrong choice during youth can have significant consequences, not only for the individual but also for society.

What is the solution?

The Junior Academy of Sciences created a video project for the "#CVIDOMI: rebuilding the country" campaign as part of the "Springboard to Equality" project implemented by UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund, in partnership with the Embassy of Sweden in Ukraine.

The "#CVIDOMI: Rebuilding the Country" campaign offers a suite of online and offline initiatives to help 11 to 18yearolds find their career path in the rebuilding of Ukraine. These initiatives are designed to ensure that young people are equipped with the skills necessary to access professions in high demand today and in the future.

These are, in particular, professions in the STEM direction (natural sciences, technologies, engineering, and mathematics) and vocational specialties.

How does it work?

The video project "#CVIDOMI: rebuilding the country" consists of 10 series about the professions of rebuilders of Ukraine, which can be pursued not only on the basis of universities but also in vocational training institutions immediately after the 9th grade of school.

In each of the series, a professional from a contemporary field of work speaks about the nature of their job and their journey to their current position, allows for an inside look into their work process, and provides guidance on where young people can begin when selecting a profession.

In addition, the heroes and heroines of the project destroy stereotypes and gender prejudices about the so-called male and female professions and demonstrate with their stories that teenagers can start a career in the field they like right after school.
