Ukraine investigates Wagner PMC members' claims of child murder

The Prosecutor General's Office began to verify statements by members of the Wagner PMC and former prisoners that they killed Ukrainian civilians, including children.

The press service of the Prosecutor's General Office reported this.

The Office notes that today, April 17, an interview of the members of the Wagner PMC began to be distributed on the network, during which they talked about the killing of civilians and prisoners in Ukraine.

"The Unified Register of Pretrial Investigations has included information on the facts presented under Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – violation of the laws and customs of war. The circumstances indicated in the interview will be verified as part of the investigation of criminal proceedings, and they will be given an appropriate legal assessment," the law enforcement officers note.

Also, the Prosecutor General's Office emphasizes that they exercise procedural leadership in cases related to the actions of PMC representatives fighting on the side of Russia.

They are being investigated for involvement in waging an aggressive war, encroaching on the territorial integrity of Ukraine, and committing war crimes.

The head of the Wagner PMC and the head of one of the divisions have already been informed of the suspicion of the facts of waging an aggressive war and encroaching on territorial integrity.

For reference:

It should be noted that the founder of the human rights project Gulagu.net, Volodymyr Osiechkin, published an interview with the former Wagner PMC members. In particular, they claimed to have shot more than 20 Ukrainian children in the Donetsk region.

The head of the President's Office, Andriy Yermak, promised that Ukraine would find all those involved in such terrible crimes.
