Sergey Vershinin/ russian media

russia has agreed to renew the Black Sea grain export deal, which is to expire on March 18, but only for another 60 days.

The Deputy Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the russian federation, Sergey Vershinin, informed.

"The russian side, noting the package nature of the Istanbul agreements proposed by UN Secretary-General António Guterres, does not object to another extension of the Black Sea initiative after its second term expiration on March 18, but only for 60 days," " he said.

In July 2023, Turkey, the UN, russia, and Ukraine signed an agreement in Istanbul on the resumption of grain exports from three Ukrainian Black Sea ports, suspended after the start of russia's military invasion of Ukraine.

The grain agreement was extended for another 120 days, starting November 19.

For reference:

Earlier, the head of the President's Office, Andriy Yermak, said that Ukraine insists on an indefinite extension of the "grain agreement."

In addition, Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar previously stated that Ankara is confident that the "grain agreement" will be extended.
