As part of the Grain from Ukraine humanitarian initiative, 110,000 tonnes of grain have already been sent to Ethiopia and Somalia.

Rubryka reports this, citing the Telegram of Ukraine's president Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

"Thanks to the joint efforts of Ukraine, partner countries and Word Food Program, it was possible to deliver 110 thousand tons of grain to Ethiopia and Somalia", – написав Зеленський.

It is reported that on February 15, the vessel Mv Valsimitis started loading 25 thousand tons of grain for Kenya in Chornomorsk. It was also decided to send cargo to Yemen, Sudan and Nigeria.

Each ship with grain sent within Grain from Ukraine meets the food needs of an average of 90,000 people.

According to the president, the first ambassadors – experts on the African continent – joined the Group on Famine Prevention to strengthen the grain initiative. They will help with scaling the implementation of the project.

"Ukraine has been and will remain the guarantor of global food security. And will continue to make its key contribution," the head of state emphasized.

Earlier, it was reported that Ukraine would deliver 25,000 tons of wheat to Kenya and 5,000 tons to Ethiopia as a part of the Grain from Ukraine program.

In general, since August 1, as part of the Grain Initiative, 746 ships have left the ports of Great Odesa, which exported 2.5 million tons of Ukrainian food to countries in Asia, Europe, and Africa, according to the Ministry of Infrastructure.
