Germany supports Ukraine in the fight against russian terror by transferring air defense systems and promises to train the Ukrainian military.

This was stated by the Minister of Defense of Germany, Christine Lambrecht, at the hearing in the Bundestag on November 23, Ukrinform reports.

"It was important for us to support Ukraine very quickly these days against the background of terror from the air with the help of missiles and drones carried out by russia. The Iris-T air defense system is more than effective and saves many lives," she said.

In this way, Lambrecht rejected criticism of her due to slow decision-making, the insufficient armament of the Bundeswehr, and insufficient assistance to Ukraine.

Instead, she shifted the responsibility for the problems of the Bundeswehr to "predecessors."

"This government, unlike many others, decided to supply weapons to countries like Ukraine. It was not an easy decision, but we not only made it, but also supply it, from MLRS, self-propelled guns, and especially air defense systems," Lambrecht noted.

She also noted that the center for repairing military equipment damaged at the front in Ukraine will be in Slovakia, not far from the border, and will start working in December. Now the task is to provide it with spare parts.

The head of the German Defense Ministry informed that, in addition to Germany, nine other countries are involved in the Ukrainian military training program.

"By the summer of 2023, we will train 5,000 Ukrainian soldiers in Germany… This is a concrete policy," she emphasized.

The day before, Lambrecht reported that the next three air defense systems, in addition to the first one, which already protects the skies of Ukraine, will be transferred next year. The Bundeswehr does not have such systems, so the industry supplies them directly.
