Ukraine to receive $3-bln grant from US on Independence Day – finance minister

On Independence Day, Ukraine will receive $3 billion from the United States to the state budget in the form of a non-refundable grant

Minister of Finance of Ukraine Serhii Marchenko announced on Facebook, congratulating Ukraine on Independence Day.

"Today, we not only celebrate the 31st anniversary of Independence but also have to defend it in the conditions of a full-scale war.

And I do not doubt our struggle will end in victory over the aggressor!

On this day, there is positive news from the financial front. Today we will receive 3 billion US dollars from the United States to the state budget in the form of a non-refundable grant.

Funds will come through the mechanism of the World Bank," the minister wrote.

He thanked American partners and the World Bank team "for their strong support to Ukraine."

"Grant assistance is a significant gift for our country on the Independence Day of Ukraine," Marchenko added.

As Rubryka reported, the United States is preparing to announce an additional package of military aid for three billion dollars on Wednesday, August 24, when Ukraine celebrates Independence Day.

It will be aimed at training and equipping Ukrainian forces.

On August 19, the USA announced Ukraine's new military aid package.

US President Joe Biden signed a decree on allocating a new military aid package to Ukraine for 755 million dollars.
