Ukraine calls on Biden administration to introduce sanctions against all russian banks

Ukraine is calling on the administration of US President Joe Biden to introduce sanctions against all russian private banks to deprive president putin of the opportunity to wage war.

The Ambassador of Ukraine to the USA, Oksana Markarova, told Bloomberg.

According to Markarova, official Kyiv wants the US to add several banks weekly to its list of sanctioned financial institutions. The ambassador said that she had forwarded a relevant request about this to the US Treasury Department.

"Sanctions are as important as weapons," Oksana Markarova said.

According to her, imposing sanctions against any russian bank is entirely legitimate, as they all effectively participate in financing putin's campaign.

"As soon as one bank is sanctioned, some other private bank suddenly becomes a financier of the industry or military," she said.

While a few banks can be left for specific purposes, "everything else should be sanctioned because all of them are engaged in financing their terror machine that is conducting war," Oksana Markarova said.

She added that Ukraine was also pushing for the State Department to designate russia as a state sponsor of terrorism.

We will remind you that the US Senate is putting pressure on the Biden administration to recognize russia as a sponsor of terrorism.

russia threatened the United States with a break in diplomatic relations if it was recognized as a terrorist state.
