Ukrainian Armed Forces are beginning the transition to NATO weapons, Foreign Minister Kuleba reports
Ukraine's armed forces are beginning the transition to NATO weapons, which has not even been discussed recently.
Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba stated this during an online inclusion on his Facebook page.
"We have entered a completely new phase, which no one even thought about two months ago. We have entered a fundamentally new phase, which no one even dreamed of: the transfer of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to NATO weapons, to NATO standards. And this is already happening," said Kuleba.
The minister also said that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was able to convince Joe Biden that it was time to do so.
"And howitzers came to us first, but this is just the beginning. Much more will come to us. This is a historic moment," Kuleba added.
As previously reported, training on the use of 155-mm howitzers handed over by the United States was to begin the other day.
Last week, US President Joe Biden announced an additional $800 million in military aid to Ukraine, including heavy artillery ahead of russia's wider offensive in eastern Ukraine.
So far, the United States has sent four consignments of weapons under the new package.
