Zelenskyy: We could unblock Mariupol if we got planes and the necessary heavy weapons and equipment

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukrainian defenders could unblock Mariupol if they had the necessary weapons, planes, and armored vehicles, but they did not receive them.

Rubryka reports, referring to the video address of the president

"Unfortunately, we are not getting as much as we need to end this war sooner, to completely destroy the enemy on our land, and to fulfill the tasks that are obvious to each of our people. In particular, to unblock Mariupol.

If we got planes and enough heavily armored vehicles, the necessary artillery, we could do it. But… We still have to agree on this.

We still have to convince. We still have to push through the necessary decisions," the president said.

Zelenskyy stressed that Ukraine still depended on its partners for the necessary weapons.

"I am sure that we will get almost everything we need. But not only time is lost, but the lives of Ukrainians are also lost. Lives that cannot be returned. And this is the responsibility of those who still keep the weapons Ukraine needs in warehouses. The responsibility that will remain forever in history," the president said.

Note

The 36th separate brigade of marines, which takes part in the defense of Mariupol from russian invaders, appealed to the Ukrainians.

Defenders said that April 11 could be the last battle for all defenders of Mariupol, and the Ukrainian military command did not contact the fighters for two weeks.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Valerii Zaluzhnyi ensured that the command had a connection with the Defense Forces in Mariupol. He added that the details of the defense operation of Ukrainian defenders should not be the subject of public discussion.

The russians have threatened to use chemical weapons against Ukrainian fighters at the Azovstal plant in Mariupol.

Later, Azov announced the use of chemical weapons.
