russian occupiers raped women and young children in the cities of Bucha and Irpin.

This was stated by the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights Liudmyla Denisova.

According to the ombudsmen, the following facts are known:

  • A 14-year-old girl from Bucha was raped by 5 occupiers and is now pregnant;
  • An 11-year-old boy from Bucha was raped in front of his mother, a woman was tied to a chair to watch;
  • A 20-year-old woman from Irpin was raped by three occupiers in all possible places.

"The level of cruelty of the army of terrorists and executioners of the Russian Federation knows no bounds, raped children… There is no place on earth or in hell where russian fascist criminals can hide from retribution!" said Denisova.

She stressed that the occupiers must bear the strictest responsibility, and rape is strictly prohibited by Article 27 of the Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War of 1949.

The ombudswoman appealed to the UN Commission of Inquiry into Human Rights Violations of the Russian Invasion of Ukraine and the expert mission set up by the OSCE participating States under the Moscow Mechanism to take into account these facts of russian war crimes in Ukraine.
