At the talks between the Ukrainian and Russian delegations, which are taking place in Istanbul, an agreement on international security guarantees for Ukraine and a ceasefire are being discussed

This was stated by the Adviser to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Mykhailo Podoliak at an interim briefing in Turkey.

According to Podoliak, the solution to humanitarian issues on the territory of Ukraine is also being discussed.

"Intensive consultations are underway on several important issues. The key one is the agreement on international security guarantees for Ukraine. Only with this agreement can we end the war as Ukraine needs it.

An equally important issue is the ceasefire so that we can solve the accumulated humanitarian problems," said an adviser to the head of the OPU.

Podoliak stressed that "today we have another problem, it is getting bigger and bigger, the problem of escalating war, escalating hatred, escalating violations of customs and rules of war, not only on the battlefield."

According to him, calls are sometimes made to destroy a nation, violating the Geneva Convention against prisoners of war.

"Separately, we have another problem: the problem of escalation of the war, escalation of hatred, and violation of customs and rules of war. There are calls (in the information space – ed.) from both sides for the destruction of nations; this leads to conflicts and the appearance of videos violating the Geneva Conventions on Prisoners of War," Podoliak added.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine will ensure that the rights of Russian prisoners of war are not violated and the same is expected from the Russian side.

Podoliak stressed that both sides must abide by the conventions and stop violating them.

As Rubryka reported, on March 29, the negotiating teams of Ukraine and Russia met in Istanbul.

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan addressed them and called for a truce.
