It'll take years to establish the damage caused by Russians after the withdrawal of Russian troops from Chornobyl nuclear power plant - Zelenskyy

After the withdrawal of Russian troops from the territory of Ukraine, it will take years to establish the damage from the capture of the Chornobyl nuclear power plant by the Russians

This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in a video address to the Parliament of Japan, which was broadcast live on the telethon UArazom, Rubryka reports.

"After the withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine, it will take years to investigate the damage they have done to the Chornobyl land, the burials of radioactive materials, and the spread of radioactive dust around the planet," he said.

The President noted that after the Chornobyl explosion, thousands of tons of contaminated materials were buried throughout the 30-kilometer exclusion zone.

And on this land on February 24, the Russian armored vehicles went, lifting radioactive dust.

Zelenskyy stressed that Russia had turned the Chornobyl nuclear power plant into an arena of war, and was using the 30-kilometer zone to prepare new attacks against our defense forces.

At the same time, the Head of State stressed that there were four operating nuclear power plants in Ukraine.

They have 15 nuclear units, and all of them, he said, are under threat.

After all, the Russian invaders have already fired from tanks at the Zaporizhzhia NPP, which is the largest in Europe.

In addition, the President stressed that Russia had damaged hundreds of industrial plants due to the fighting, many of which are particularly dangerous.

The other day, Russian troops also fired on a chemical plant in the Sumy region of Ukraine, where an ammonia leak occurred.

"We are being warned about possible chemical attacks, including the use of sarin, as was the case in Syria. One of the main topics of discussion for world politicians was how to react if Russia also uses nuclear weapons.

Any confidence of any person in the world, of any country, is completely destroyed," Zelenskyy said.

As reported by Rubryka, the Chornobyl NPP was captured by Russian troops on February 24.

On March 20, personnel from the Chornobyl nuclear power plant were partially rotated and people who were on the territory of the station temporarily occupied by Russian troops were evacuated.

Russian invaders looted and destroyed the latest 6 million-euro Central Analytical Laboratory located in the exclusion zone around the Chornobyl nuclear power plant.
