Ukraine withdrew from ACEEEO because of its refusal to exclude Russia and Belarus

The Central Election Commission of Ukraine leaves the Association of European Election Officials (ACEEEO), where the electoral bodies of Russia and Belarus remain

This was announced by the CEC in a statement on withdrawal from the Association, published on Facebook.

This happened because they refused to exclude both Russia and Belarus.

It is noted that the Commission, realizing the need to protect democracy from destruction, on February 27 appealed to the relevant international organizations and foreign election administration bodies to stop cooperation and exclude from its ranks the electoral institutions of the aggressor country.

The CEC regrets to inform you that the decision to exclude the electoral bodies of Russia and Belarus was not taken as a result of the vote of the АСЕЕЕО member states on March 4, 2022.

Instead, a repeat vote was scheduled for March 9, but on the issue of suspending the membership of these bodies in the organization.

"It should be noted that the continued presence of representatives of the aggressor countries in the civilized institutions contradicts the nature of these institutions, the mission of the АСЕЕЕО to support good governance and democracy.

The lack of reaction to the previous so-called presidential election in Belarus, the tacit agreement to hold elections in the Russian Federation in Ukraine, Crimea, inaction on acts of aggression in Ukraine today are a destructive force for the civilized world," the CEC said.

In addition, it is reported that on March 7, 2022, the State Election Commission of the Republic of Poland and the State Election Commission of the Republic of Slovenia announced their withdrawal from ACEEEO.

In this way, they reacted to the disgraceful results of the vote to exclude the aggressor countries from the ACEEEA.

"Today, the State Election Commission of the Republic of Croatia and the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Lithuania announced their withdrawal," the election commission said.

The CEC also calls on all other members of the democratic standards, in view of the atrocities committed by the aggressor's representatives in Ukraine, not to tolerate the terrorist country and to decide to leave the Organization.

At the same time, the Commission expressed gratitude for the support and solidarity with Ukraine of the electoral bodies of Poland, Slovenia, Croatia, the Republic of Lithuania, and other countries, which reaffirmed their position that pseudo-democracy and tyranny have no place in a civilized society.
