EU can impose sanctions on Putin and Lavrov - Mass media

The EU plans to freeze the assets of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov as part of the next package of sanctions against Russia. Such a decision may be made in the coming days.

This was reported by the Financial Times, citing three sources.

In addition, the same information was published by the editor of "Radio Liberty" Ricard Jozwiak in his Twitter.

Both the journalist and the media claim that the sanctions will not affect visas. That is, Putin and Lavrov will be able to cross the EU border.

UPD

The Japan Times report that according to two high-ranking officials, European Union diplomats have approved sanctions plan against Russian President Vladimir Putin and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov for invading Ukraine, which will freeze their foreign assets.

An asset freeze, in addition to a broader package of sanctions approved by the EU on Friday morning, will not affect Putin's or Lavrov's ability to travel, officials said, as the EU seeks to keep diplomatic channels open.

The details of Putin's fortunes remain a mystery. Officially, he has almost no assets. His annual income is about 10 million rubles ($120,850), he owns three cars and an apartment, according to his latest financial information.
