Ukraine is negotiating with Romania on official support for EU membership

Ukraine and Romania are negotiating the signing of a document recognizing Ukraine's European perspective.

The press service of the Office of the President reports.

This topic was raised during a visit to Bucharest by the Deputy Head of the Office of the President Ihor Zhovkva at a meeting with State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dănuţ Sebastian Neculăescu.

As noted, Zhovkva expressed hope that Romania would be one of the next EU states to recognize Ukraine's European perspective.

"The parties agreed to intensify work on the draft of the relevant bilateral political declaration," the press service said.

Five EU countries have already signed declarations recognizing Ukraine's European perspective. These are Poland, the Baltic countries; Slovakia joined this week.

As Rubryka reported, on November 2, on the sidelines of the Glasgow Climate Summit, the document was signed by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Slovak President Zuzana Čaputová.
