Ukraine has one of the world's highest drought risks, study says

Ukraine and Moldova have the highest risk of drought in the world. Bangladesh, India, and Serbia are also in the top five.

A study by the World Resources Institute (WRI) indicates this, "Hordon" reports.

The study collected data on 138 countries, which were based on three indicators: agricultural, industrial, and regional. Experts analyzed the intensity of the past drought, water shortages, drought damage, population, crop volume, and livestock.

Moldova, Ukraine, Bangladesh, India, and Serbia are in the top five of the anti-rating.

The most favorable situation is in Iceland, Norway (Europe), and Senegal (Africa).

Many African countries weren't analyzed due to a lack of access to data for analysis.

It is also clarified that countries at risk of drought don't always have to experience large water shortages. However, the consequences can still be serious.
