At least 70% of the population will be vaccinated by the end of the year - Liashko
Chief sanitary doctor Viktor Liashko, who paid a working visit to the Odesa region on April 29, believes that by the end of 2021, at least 70 percent of Ukraine's population will be vaccinated.
Ukrinform reports.
At the same time, the chief sanitary doctor addressed residents of the Odesa region and all Ukrainians with a request to adhere to quarantine restrictions during the May holidays.
"The purpose of my visit is to see how vaccination started in the region, whether vaccination points are properly prepared. Having visited Podilsk, Liubashivka, Rozdilna, I was convinced: all points are ready, there are vaccines, and lists have been formed for at least 50 people a day," Liashko said speaking at a meeting of the board of the regional state administration.
"In general, I'm satisfied with the increase in the vaccination rate in the Odesa region; 2,683 vaccinations have been given in the region over the past 24 hours," the chief medical officer said, noting that the vaccine delivered to Ukraine was safe.
"Currently, doctors make 70,000 vaccinations a day, and by the end of 2021, we want to vaccinate at least 70 percent of the population of Ukraine; that's 48 million injections," Liashko said.
According to him, if we join forces, we can do 100 or 200 thousand vaccinations every day.
Liashko stressed that much depends on establishing the unified work of government agencies and medical institutions. According to him, there are currently questions for each region.
The chief sanitary doctor also appealed to the residents of the Odesa region and all Ukrainians to adhere to the restrictions of adaptive quarantine during the May holidays.
If there are a lot of violations, the residents of Odesa will have to return to the red zone.
