Ukraine waiting for IMF mission and second tranche - Prime Minister

Ukraine is awaiting the announcement of the IMF mission starting and the allocation of the second tranche under the stand-by program soon.

Denys Shmyhal said this at the first annual international conference organized by UkraineInvest.

"We are waiting for the announcement about the International Monetary Fund's mission launch in Ukraine soon. It'll give us the opportunity to expect to receive the second tranche under the stand-by program soon, currently open to our state," Shmyhal said.

He recalled that in June Ukraine and the EU had signed a Memorandum and Loan Agreement to provide our country with "exclusive" macro-financial assistance from the European Union in the amount of 1.2 billion euros. The macro-financial assistance program will last 12 months and will disburse two tranches of 600 million euros each. It's presumed that the allocation of the first tranche is possible immediately after the entry into force of the Memorandum of Understanding and the Loan Agreement.

"This Wednesday, the EU informed us about the allocation of 600 million euros," Shmyhal added.

The head of government stressed that the government, working to support business and restore economic growth, was able to prepare the needed foundation for economic development. The work was carried out in several key areas.

"First, cooperation with the IMF, the World Bank, the European Union, and other financial partners is the key to Ukraine's confident exit from the crisis," he said.
