How EcoBus works. In Poltava, they collect batteries and other hazardous waste at the city level

Among all the waste we throw away, every day we come across things that are especially dangerous for the environment. Mercury lamps and thermometers, batteries and accumulators, medical waste, and other things do not just decompose for a long time, they end up in landfills and contaminate the earth and groundwater. 1 broken mercury lamp pollutes 3000 cubic meters of air and harms human health. Once in the body, mercury remains in it for life making it especially dangerous for us.

All over the world, such waste is being collected separately and sent for recycling to specialized enterprises. In our country, mainly volunteer organizations and caring people collect batteries or other hazardous waste. But in Poltava, they are trying to make collecting such waste more centralized and comfortable for citizens.
