New elections in the US: how the fate of Joe Biden's presidency depends on one state
Joe Biden won a landslide victory: over 81 million Americans voted for him. But whether he will be a full-fledged leader of the United States depends on the millions of voters in Georgia. We explain why it turned out and what can happen next.
While the entire world and Ukraine, in particular, watched the duel between Donald Trump and Joe Biden, on November 3, the Americans also elected 33 senators. The remaining 67 (one hundred senators in the upper house) haven't disappeared. In the United States, parliamentarians are re-elected in groups so that a change in the entire convocation doesn't paralyze the work of Congress.
And if the previous series of elections in 2018 didn't radically change the situation in the country, this year, Joe Biden's fate in politics will directly depend on them. After the November vote, the situation in the Senate is precarious: there are now 52 Republicans and 48 Democrats. But there are still two election campaigns in Georgia (the state, marked by a viral video about cats in the oceanarium in the spring, and by fierce protests for the rights of African Americans in the summer). Voting here is scheduled for January 5.
