Solutions to win: Ministry of Defense approves ground combat drone with machine gun for deployment
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has codified and approved the Ukrainian Droid TW 12.7 for operation in the Defense Forces units. It is a robotic combat complex on a tracked platform equipped with a 12.7 mm Browning machine gun.
The Ministry of Defense reported this.
The ministry noted that the complex has confirmed its reliability during combat tests, has remote control via a tablet, and works on digital communication.
The facility runs on a tracked platform designed for extreme conditions and is outfitted with a 12.7 mm machine gun.

According to the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Dmytro Klimenkov, technology plays a decisive role in ensuring superiority on the battlefield in modern warfare.
Codification and admission to the Ukrainian robotic complex Droid TW 12.7 operation is a significant step towards introducing innovations into Ukraine's armed forces.
"We codify samples that become a reliable tool for our defenders, helping them to perform tasks in the most difficult conditions. Our advantage is a high-tech army capable of withstanding modern challenges," Klimenkov noted.
In November, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine codified more than 120 samples of weapons and military equipment for the Defense Forces.
As noted by the Ministry of Defense, the list of codified new weapons and equipment in November includes the following:
- unmanned aerial systems,
- ammunition (mainly UAVs),
- engineering equipment,
- electronic warfare/electronic reconnaissance and communications equipment.
Most of them are also of Ukrainian development.
In addition, the list of new munitions approved for use in November includes:
- new mobile rocket launchers (for individual units of the Defense Forces),
- a new armor-piercing cartridge,
- a domestically produced medical evacuation armored vehicle.
"Such a number of new codified munitions in just one month indicates significant dynamics of weapons development in Ukraine under individual nomenclatures. Individual samples of Ukrainian weapons have unique characteristics.
We are working to ensure they join our military as soon as possible," Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Dmytro Klimenkov said.
For reference:
As of October this year, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine codified and authorized 70 engineering assets for use in the Defense Forces. Of these, 47 are domestic and 23 are foreign-made. More than 40 assets were codified during the third quarter of 2024.
Additionally, the defense department has officially sanctioned using the UNITS interactive training system in the Defense Forces. This system was created by Ukrainian engineers and is specifically tailored for both individual and group fire training purposes.
