Ukraine's armed forces confirm successful strike on Russian military airfield in Lipetsk, obliterating 700 guided aerial bombs
The General Staff of Ukraine's armed forces has confirmed that the Ukrainian military successfully struck the military airfield in Lipetsk on the night of August 9.
The General Staff reports this.
Due to the night attack, the warehouses with guided aerial bombs and nearby objects near the airport were struck.
Several ignition sources were recorded, resulting in a powerful fire, and several explosions were witnessed.
The General Staff has reported that the Lipetsk airfield is the base for the Russian Aerospace Forces' Su-34, Su-35, and MiG-31 aircraft. The damage results are being clarified.
According to reports, over 700 precision aerial bombs had been stockpiled in the warehouses. Following the Ukrainian drone attack, there was a massive explosion resulting in a chain reaction and a widespread fire across much of the airfield.
Most of the planes stationed at the Lipetsk-2 airfield did not have time to take off.
"The Security Service of Ukraine, in cooperation with the Defense Forces, continues methodical work on the destruction of Russian aviation logistics so that the enemy does not have the opportunity to bomb Ukrainian cities with guided aerial bombs (UAVs). At the beginning of August, we destroyed fighter jets and aerial bombs at the Morozovsk airfield, and today it was the turn of Lipetsk-2," a source in the Security Service reported.
The speaker acknowledged that the Ukrainian military is diligently working to eliminate Russian air transportation capabilities to prevent the occupying forces from launching anti-aircraft missile attacks on Ukrainian cities.
Furthermore, Ukrainian troops attacked Russian anti-aircraft missile divisions located in the temporarily occupied area of the Donetsk region. Specifically, three enemy radar systems were targeted: two from the S-350 complexes and one from the S-300.
The exact destruction of one of the S-350 air defense system radars has been confirmed, and information about other targets is currently being clarified. After the strikes, all three enemy radars stopped working.
It's worth mentioning that in early August, the Defense Forces "cleared" the airfield Morozovsk of anti-aircraft missiles and fighter jets.
For reference:
Last night, near the military airfield in Lipetsk, there were loud explosions, followed by a massive fire. According to Russian reports, the fire was caused by an attack.
An emergency regime had been introduced near the Lipetsk municipal district to eliminate the consequences of explosive object detonations.
It was decided that the settlements of Koptsevye Khutory, Fedorovka, Yakovlya, and Tinkovka should be evacuated.
According to local authorities, nine people were injured. All entertainment events in the region have been canceled. Passenger traffic has been temporarily stopped in the city of Lipetsk and the Lipetsk district.
Also, as a result of the UAV's fall, the energy infrastructure's object was damaged, and the power supply was disrupted.
