Seven Ukrainian vocational schools will implement a commercial drone education program, Ukraine's Digital Transformation Minister Mykhailo Fedorov wrote on his Telegram channel.

What is the problem?

The ability to fly a civilian drone is extremely important for Ukraine today. They are used during sowing, rescue operations and demining, and they help assess the damage caused by hostilities, while journalists use them to document the war consequences.

"Vocational education reform continues. Recently, 200+ institutions have applied to upgrade their workshops and create high-quality conditions for training the specialists the country needs so much. High-quality education is the foundation for human capital development."

What is the solution?

The program was introduced as part of the vocational education reform. Drones were purchased for practical training with the support of the EU and teachers were trained.

The plan is to expand the network of vocational schools and approve an educational standard that will allow for the full training of such specialists.

How does it work?

"Back in 2022, we proposed this idea to the EU Delegation in our country, and it responded. The Ministry of Education agreed on an interregional working group that developed the basis for the new profession. We managed to create three curricula: initial vocational training, course training, and group work," Kozytskyi said.

The new educational project called "Commercial drone pilot" will be launched in Kyiv, Sumy, Lviv, Chernihiv, Mykolaiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kirovohrad regions.
