Russian attack kills three in Kyiv: body of one victim recovered from rubble

Another body has been recovered from the debris of a warehouse in the Shevchenkivskyi district in Kyiv. 

It marks the third civilian death caused by the massive Russian attack on Kyiv on December 29, Rubryka reports, citing Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko.

Earlier, another body was retrieved from the rubble.

"28 people were affected during the morning attack on the capital. One person lost their life. 25 injured were hospitalized, with three receiving on-site medical assistance. Four people were rescued from the debris of a warehouse in the Shevchenkivskyi district. The search and rescue operation is still ongoing," said the Kyiv mayor on Telegram.

Later, he announced:

"Another body of a deceased person has been recovered from the debris of a warehouse in the Shevchenkivskyi district," he shared.

As the mayor of the capital pointed out, as of now, there are three confirmed deaths following the morning attack on Kyiv.

As of 12:00, four people have been successfully rescued. The search and rescue operation continues.

To address the aftermath of the Russian rocket attack on Kyiv, traffic has been blocked at several addresses in the capital.

The city authorities request residents to consider this information when planning their trips. On-site patrol officers provide assistance to emergency services and citizens.

The Lukianivska metro station, which also suffered from the Russian strike, is already operational for transportation.

Attack on Kyiv

During the night and morning of December 29, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with rockets and drones. The Russian forces launched approximately 110 missiles, most of which were successfully intercepted. Impacts were recorded in Kyiv and several regions.

In Kyiv, an air raid was declared three times and lasted nearly five hours. During the last alarm, the city was attacked by dozens of missiles of various types, coming in waves and from different directions.

Air defense forces downed over 30 aerial targets over Kyiv, but there were also hits. Currently, one death is confirmed in Kyiv, with 28 injured.

As a result of the strike, the Lukianivska metro station building, civilian structures, warehouses, vehicles, and more have been damaged.

Russia's Massed Attack on Ukraine

Russian forces are attacking Ukraine with missiles and kamikaze drones from nighttime, causing explosions in several regions: Kyiv, Kharkiv, Lviv, Dnipro, Odesa, Sumy, and Cherkasy regions.

In four major Ukrainian cities, buildings are on fire due to the attacks.

In Kyiv, air defense systems were activated. Debris fell in the Podilskyi and Sviatoshynskyi districts of the capital.

It is also reported that rockets hit Kharkiv. The city recorded 22 explosions during the mass attack. Eight people were injured, and one was killed.

More explosions were also reported in Lviv on the morning of December 29, with damage to a residential building.

Due to the Russian rocket attack, one person lost their life in Lviv. Currently, eight injured are confirmed.

In Dnipro, Russian strikes damaged a maternity hospital, with casualties and injuries. A shopping center in the city is also on fire.

Moreover, on the night of December 29, the south of Ukraine was again attacked by Shahed drones. Infrastructure in the Odesa region was hit, and in Odesa itself, an apartment building was damaged by the fragments of a downed drone. In total, the Russians launched 22 Shahed drones, with 18 of them being downed.

Odesa confirmed two deaths and many injuries due to the rocket attack by Russia.

In the morning, Russia also attacked Zaporizhzhia. The strike hit businesses, residential buildings, and a private house. Two people lost their lives, and there were more casualties. People may be trapped under the rubble of buildings.
