Russian troops fail to advance on eastern Kupiansk and Bakhmut fronts – AFU General Staff

Russian forces tried to advance toward the towns of Kupiansk, Lyman, Avdiivka, and Marinka but failed to make any headway, according to the General Staff of AFU.

In the meantime, Ukrainian troops push forward on southern fronts. During the day, 15 combat clashes took place all over the frontline. 

Enemy forces launched seven missile and 67 air strikes, fired 30 times from multiple launch rocket systems at the positions of Ukraine's troops and civilian areas.

Russian attacks have again resulted in civilian casualties, including children. The port infrastructure in the Odesa region, as well as residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure, have been destroyed.

Ukraine's air defense managed to down two X-101 missiles and 13 Shahed-136 drones over the past night.

As for the Kupiansk front, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensives near Senkivka in the Kharkiv region. The settlements of Vilshana, Petropavlivka, and Cherneshchyna in the Kharkiv region came under enemy artillery and mortar fire.

As for the Bakhmut sector, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive actions near Bohdanivka in the Donetsk region. More than 15 settlements suffered from enemy artillery shelling, including Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Hryhorivka, Bohdanivka, Kalynivka, Ivanivske, and Stupochki in the Donetsk region.

The enemy strengthened filtration measures in the occupied Kherson region. Between August 15 and 26, a ban was imposed on any movement of civilians between Hola Prystan and the Kinburn Spit. Russian forces are searching through phones and premises. The main target is residents with SIM cards of Ukrainian operators.

Over the past day, Ukraine's Air Force carried out nine strikes on the areas of concentration of enemy personnel, weapons, and military equipment and one on an anti-aircraft missile system.
