Russian troops shell Orikhiv in Zaporizhzhia region, killing police captain and injuring 12 people

On the morning of August 12, the Russian forces attacked Orikhiv, Zaporizhzhia region, with a guided aerial bomb, killing at least one 31-year-old law enforcement officer and injuring 12 residents of varying degrees of severity.

The Minister of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko, and the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration reported this.

As the head of the department reported, 12 people, including four police officers, were injured as a result of the attack.

At this time, doctors are fighting for the lives of the wounded, among whom several are in serious condition.

"The deceased is a 31-year-old police captain. My condolences to the family of the deceased" added Klymenko.

It should be noted that part of the Zaporizhzhia region has been under Russian occupation since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. At the same time, Russian troops regularly attack the territory controlled by Ukraine.

"The Russian army covered the city with heavy artillery. A 71-year-old woman was injured. She was hospitalized in a moderate condition.

15 private houses, six farm buildings, and cars as well as five power lines were damaged," the Regional Military Administration reported.

In addition, on the morning of August 12, an air alert was announced in Ukraine's eastern and southern regions, during which explosions were heard in Kryvyi Rih in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
